St Annes Community Services Astbury

Asbury is an 8 bedded residential service that provides 24 hour support to adults who have a learning disability, physical disabilities & complex needs. Astbury offers a relaxed & homely environment with a strong emphasis on providing person centred care & support to the people who live there. The building consists of 2 interconnected semidetached bungalows which were purpose built to meet the physical needs of the clients residing there. Facilities include overhead ceiling hoist tracking in areas of the house, specialist bathing & shower facilities & spacious communal areas. The service has 2 adapted vehicles to enable access to the community. Astbury is situated in a quiet residential area of Middlesbrough. Astbury is approximately 4 miles from& the town centre & is in close proximity to the local hospital, cinemas, shopping centres & train station

Astbury has a staff team consisting of a Manager, Deputy Manager, & approximately 17 support staff. The manager is a registered nurse in learning disabilities (RNLD) & the deputy manager & majority of the staff team have achieved NVQ Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care. Staff have also achieved qualifications in areas such as dementia & end of life care to ensure that the changing support needs of clients are met. Staff support clients with all aspects of daily living, personal care, social & leisure pursuits & maintenance of health & well being. Staff also support clients to maintain contact with family & friends & to go on annual holidays

All clients have person centred support plans which ensure that all support provided is appropriate to each client&s needs, wishes & aspirations. Clients are as fully involved as possible in the running of the home & regular residents meetings are held.& Clients are consulted & encouraged to make decisions in all aspects of their lives including activities, menus & recruitment of staff. Family & friends of clients are welcomed in the home & their contribution is positively valued
