Oct 18 2017 No understanding of dementia caring. Not a lot of nursing given to dad you could see his eyes needed attention as stuck together every day very uncomfortable for him even when pointing out every visit . I witnessed a lot of good caring to to able bodied people and food every one enjoyed . No bath for dad for a week was the last straw the reason they gave was he was difficult they knew his needs when they excepted him

Sep 30 2017 My brother lived at Derwent Lodge from June -September 2017 following a very serious fall. During the 4 months he was there he was treated with the utmost kindness and respect. He was looked after in a very professional and supportive way and the care he had was first class. The Management, Nurses, Care Assistants, Cleaners and others, without exception, did their very best to ensure that he was comfortable and well cared for. The food was always well prepared for the residents, and as it became more difficult for my brother to swallow, the staff were extremely patient and took all the time needed to feed him. As he came to the end of his life, the care that he received was amazing. The staff treated him with dignity and compassion – as one of them said – “He’s one of ours”. Our family are very grateful not only for the way he was cared for but also the way in which we were all supported. The help we were given made a very difficult time much easier to bear. We cannot praise all at Derwent Lodge highly enough and say that they are a credit to the care system. If any of our family need nursing care in the future, we hope that we would have staff like this to care for us. We highly recommend Derwent Lodge.
