Sep 10 2016 Very very disappointed my dad stayed there , when checking up the following day he was still in bed almost lunchtime, when the staff were questioned about this they were quite rude . We bought him home from there immediately very very unhappy if I'm honest .

We are very sorry that you feel your father was not cared for well at Oak Cottage. Family members requests of their loved ones being out of bed and dressed are taken into account, however, if the Service User themselves are asking to stay in bed to rest then we take this request over all others. Respite care is for a resting break and we would prefer to have cooperation from Service User's when assisting them out of bed for the day. Unfortunately we are unable to move and handle your father as you did on this day and have a responsibility to ensure his safety against our Moving and Handling regulations. We have a hoist in situ for people who do not weight bare. As the Service User went to bed in the early hours of the morning we did not feel a lie in was an unreasonable request. Every Service User has an opportunity to get up earlier and was his choice to stay in bed. If you wish to discuss this further, please feel free to either call the home or address the complaint in writing. Many Thanks- Write a Review
