This is one of the more expensive agencies we came across while researching care providers for my mother who has mild/moderate dementia. We have had their services for just short of 8 weeks and although the main carer they allocated my mother was perfect, they kept introducing other carers to cover their time off - a promise of two carers maximum was promised at interview and we have had 5 to date. The most problematic issue regarding this firm is that they are clearly short of staff and are anxious to find staff to fulfil their client commitments. This has lead to them to employ below standard carers, bearing in mind their hourly rate. Moreover, the owner is typical of a franchisee who has entered into the industry as a business opportunity. Their manner is either overly friendly or downright rude and defensive.
Its a shame as there were a couple of staff members who really are very good at their job but the poor management overshadows their abilities.
Without going into any specifics on this public space, they fell very short of the requirements we appointed them to carry out - good staff included. They changed staff far too quickly and without considering the personality mix they promised they would consider when allocating staff to my mother. They made no unplanned check-up visits, again promised at interview meeting. They even appointed one staff member for cleaning tasks who didn't know that you had to rub off brass/silver polish after applying it to make the object shine!! We has a house full of powdery objects that we paid £16 per hour to have done!!
Lets see what they do about the various no-shows we had - Ill bet we get charged! Either way my experience with this firm has put me off using carers, expensive or otherwise, for some considerable time. |
