My son went to appointment with much concern and was told he would be referred for a scan , 4 weeks later after hearing nothing we found out that he hadn't actually been referred at all even though it stated on the system, the doctor was rude to him and this service is unacceptable

I’m quite young but suffer badly with arthritis, when ringing for painkillers the reception staff always try to tell me I shouldn’t have what I’m prescribed. I tried to make an appointment last week as my prescribed medication wasn’t working and I was struggling to move at all; in constant severe pain for several days (I wanted to give my flare up chance to calm down before getting stronger drugs) so the receptionist asked what it is was for (fair enough as it ensures I’m seeing a doctor that will help me) and then went on to tell me I do not need anything and I shouldn’t have the prescribed medication I have. I continued trying to explain at which point she put me on hold for about 5 mins and then came back to tell me she had spoken to two other people in the surgery (not doctors as there was no doctors in at the time) about me and my medical history, who both apparently agreed with her because ‘I can’t have it that bad at my age’... so much for confidentiality. Each and every time I’m spoke to in a discriminatory and rude manner by the reception staff. I did however manage to get an appt that day after I told the receptionist I was unhappy with her speaking about me to other staff who had no need to be told. The doctor I saw was absolutely fabulous and listened to everything I had to say and sorted me out and for that I can’t thank him enough. I also had an issue where my consultant had increased my methotrexate dosage and sent a letter to the doctors to inform them as I can only get a prescription off my gp (no idea why, it’s odd) I received a copy of the letter but a month later as the surgery had not actioned their copy and I was taking the increased dose they refused to prescribe it me as I was ‘taking too many’, even after explaining what happened. Not taking this medication literally leaves me bedridden and very poorly when missing a dose and taking it after a missed dose. I explained this but was still told I’m ‘being untruthful’ and had to take in my copy of the letter, which I did to find out they already had it on file and just ignored it. This was only resolved when I requested to speak with the surgery manager to complain. But again when I saw a doctor during the appt above he advised he was going to investigate everything that had happened and try to ensure it does not happen for anyone else and also mentioned about retraining reception staff due to several reports of breaches of policy. I can however say now the surgery has teamed up with buckshaw village surgery it seems problems will be rectified and will run much better for patients.

I haven't been to the surgery for a while until last week , I wasent too happy with the respons I got when I asked for a specific cream , was told to go and buy it at the chemist, but unfortunately for me the chemist wont sell it me as I am over 60yrs , the doctor in my oppinian should have known my age and know that the chemist wouldn't sell it to me for this reason . I never had this problem with the doctor who has just retierd .May be the old ways were best well for me that is to be honest.......
