I would like to share my gratitude to a particular doctor for going above an beyond at my appointment.
She was the only who didn’t just say no straight away, and even when she was very busy she still took the time to research my situation safely to ensure what I was able to do was accurate.
Thank you so much |

Absolutely outstanding help from this surgery. As always. Have had 4 staff help me on an urgent matter to get new medication urgently in time for a long haul flight. Polite, courteous, responsive, & proactive staff.. cant praise them enough. I didnt think we'd be able to resolve the issue in the time scale I'd allowed to sort. I wish it was allowed to mention names here as Im so grateful to those that made this happen outside of normal protocols to help me. As someone with multiple health problems I've encountered many surgeries over the years and this practice is brilliantly run. Am aware there are many complaints about our nhs. So I'm pleased to give RAVE reviews about Birchwood Medical Practice in Horley and gratitude!! |

As usual, this week I posted my prescription renewal at the beginning of the week, planning to collect towards the end. The surgery have been ‘suggesting’ for years that I enrol in the digital prescription scheme, but I have declined because of the lack of flexibility for choosing the pharmacy that a) will be handiest for me, and b) has my meds available. Because my script includes two ‘unusual’ meds, the pharmacy often has difficulty filling it. If they partially fill the script I cannot take it to an alternative pharmacy for filling. So I have thought it through fully and decided thank you, but no thank you.
So I was frankly astonished today when I popped into the surgery to find that my script had been sent to a nearby supermarket pharmacy where I sometimes get them filled. Especially as no one had told me this would happen. The surgery staff explained that all scripts are now automatically sent to a pharmacy. Despite my protestations that I have never chosen this supermarket as my preferred pharmacy, it seems that my script is going to the supermarket.
So I now need to specify every time I need a renewal that I want to collect it from the surgery. There is no option anymore to make collection the default. Reply from Birchwood Medical Practice Mon, 08 Jul 2019 09:23:18 +0100 I am very sorry you had this experience at the surgery. Most prescriptions are sent electronically now, A) This is the most secure way to get prescriptions from surgeries to chemists, and B) This can also speed up the process. Patients always have a choice where prescriptions are sent and if they don't want them sent electronically they can remain at the surgery for patients to collect. I would be very happy to investigate this in more detail if you could please contact the Patient Services Manager. |
