Thank you for allowing me to comment. I understand that in the current climate GP surgeries have a tough job managing the work load. Whilst I appreciate that circumstances beyond your control prevented you from making a GP appointment in the near future I can't understand why I have to ring you at 8am tomorrow morning for an appointment. You really need to sort that |

Really frustrated with how the access to GPS is impossible now at this surgery. I have been with surgery for over 20 years and the practice as changed beyond recognition. I’ve just tried to fill in an e-consultation form at 8:10 at it is not available to fill in - capped already. Tried to call, I’m caller number 28 so there will be no appointments left when I do get through. I had an appointment a month a go and was told to come back if it hadn’t resolved itself in that time and make another appointment. I’m really worried about a health issue and i just want to be seen by a competent doctor, who Isn’t rude, talks over you and is only interested filling the patient records. I am hoping that it’s nothing serious that’s been missed. The stress of feeling unwell and not being able to see a good doctor, easily is awful. I have also found the new receptionist to be unhelpful and unprofessional. I had an appointment last month in the surgery, one of them ask me to explain my symptoms at reception in front of other staff and patients - unacceptable. I am sure the practice manager will express dissatisfaction that I have raised this publicly however getting her contact details was also impossible! |

This used to be an excellent practice under the leadership of Dr Peter Tatman. It is not very good anymore. All surgeries are over-subscribed so getting appointments is difficult everywhere, but the way in which patients are treated by receptionists and medical staff is also very important to patients and is affected by the attitude of the leadership and management; in this practice now, it leans towards being authoritarian and defensive. Doctors don’t stay long, some receptionists over-reach themselves and patients can feel unwilling to ask for the help they need. The “one appointment, one issue” policy is particularly unintelligent as, if followed, it would lead to multiple appointments for one patient and lack of the joined-up thinking which is essential to good diagnostics. Patients don’t always present with the most important symptom but with one easily explained to the over-inquisitive receptionist. The soft skills once highly valued by patients have been subsumed into a superficial efficiency which, in fact, is nothing if the sort. |
