Paul McKeever registered as a pharmacist in 1999 and in 2001 he acquired his first pharmacy in Newry. Since then the business has continued to grow and today McKeevers Chemists operates 20 busy, modern pharmacies. These are located for the most part in the south and east of Northern Ireland with four pharmacies in Liverpool, England and 1 pharmacy in Southern Ireland employing over 175 staff, including 22 pharmacists.
With the head office and distribution centre based in Armagh, McKeevers Chemists, with its highly qualified, enthusiastic staff, has become well known for ‘offering the best prices in town’, and prides itself in working hard to supply the highest quality service within the communities it serves.
At McKeevers Chemists we pride ourselves on the level of service we deliver in the healthcare arena. Our pharmacists are involved in initiatives such as smoking cessation, blood pressure monitoring, cholesterol checks and diabetic screening. By bringing these services out into the community to places such as schools, sports clubs and community centres, McKeevers Chemists are continuing to develop their role in ‘being at the heart of healthcare in the community.’
Two of our Newry branches offer extended opening hours, McKeevers on the Bridge, Late Night Pharmacy, opens 9am to 10 pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 8pm on Saturday and 9am to 6pm on Sunday. McKeevers Chemists, Lanes, Monaghan St, opens 9am to 10pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 8pm on Saturday and 9am to 6pm on Sunday, as well as both shops opening 364 days a year.

I will never, ever go back into this shop again. I've been a customer to this chemist for years and my family before me and today, (Friday 3rd March 2023) I felt like I'd been the brunt of the pharmacist's busy, frustrating day. I'd asked for 2 minutes of her time to validate a passport application form and was told (I think around four times) that she was under no obligation to validate the form and was also told by the counter assistant that 'people needed their tablets.'
To be considered a professional person, the way she handled things today was far from it. I am now left feeling disappointed and saddened that a place of business would treat any customer like this. Never again will i give her the chance to speak to me the way she did today. I'm saddened having to write such a report. I don't believe i've ever written such a negative article before but this really was deserving of such bad behaviour.
