This has to be the best pharmacy. . The staff are very knowledgeable and caring whatever the problem. It is a great resource for Barton and the surrounding villages. Expert medical advice is on hand . There is a wide range of other goods available at a good price. Very good that often the staff will check with pharmacist about correct items to alleviate symptoms.
Always impressed that pharmacists will advise when it is necessary to visit GP |

Living over an hour away from my elderly mother I have really come to appreciate just how good this Chemist is in recent years. Nothing has been too much trouble and they have been very proactive in helping mum at all times. When a new prescription system was introduced by the GP which was totally impossible for her they actually went back to the GP on mums behalf and arranged a system that worked. I cannot speak highly enough of the friendly and supportive staff. One less thing to worry about! When collecting a prescription that has been sent via system one direct from the GP why is the process so out of date within the context of the IT systems available in this age of IT solutions. One orders on line, it is sent to the pharmacy and then when you collect it someone has to go through numerous paper prescriptions in random order to locate the one you are collecting. Often the script can’t be found, there is a lot of searching and talking before your medications are located. Then to add further insult your name and address is shouted across the pharmacy, I consider this a breach of my confidentiality. This has the potential for your name and address to be overheard and used in an inappropriate fashion. It makes me not wish to collect my prescriptions from this pharmacy and yet it seems one has no choice? Please ask your staff to stop shouting full names and addresses out in the shop. Reply from C & H (Barton) Ltd Wed, 05 Jun 2019 12:12:33 +0100 Dear Sir/Madam, I am sorry that you have not been satisfied by our service. I have reiterated to staff that they are to ask the patient to confirm their own address, when handing out prescriptions. Unfortunately the NHS has not got a paperless system for prescriptions yet. The internet can be used to send them to us, but we still have to print them, and get signatures on the back. Ideally we would rather not search through many baskets looking for prescriptions, but the prescriptions do not arrive as a steady stream. We therefore have a backlog of work that goes up and down throughout the day. The funding from the community pharmacy NHS contract is not sufficient to cover more staff I am afraid. If you wish to discuss any of these matters further then please do not hesitate to contact me at alex.hill4@nhs.net Alex Hill Superintendent Pharmacist |
