Arrived for my first appointment here and asked to take a seat no name asked for. Then receptionist swung round in her seat and asked for my name, Then she came over and sat down with a clip board and asked lots of questions. I asked as nothing displayed as to who was doing the eye tests that day if it was a man or a lady?. She replied a man then said he is very good what a strange thing to say as one would hope they are very good. I sat there looking at a cup of cold something that had been left there on the small table. Then was called in by a very pleasant man who carried out my eye test. He asked if had any itchy eyes and I said yes and he reached up for a little box and said it was eye spray for dry eyes. After he determined varifocals would be best for me he led me back out and handed me over to a lady in reception. This lady had a chart showing three levels of varifocals on it and suggested one for me. The optician appeared at this point with the box with the eye spray in that he thought I should use. I asked the lady how much for the eye spray she said £10.00 I then asked how much for the glasses she said depends on the frame. We went over to the display of frames not one had a price on which i found to be off putting. Lady suggested a particular frame then walked to her desk sat writing and said total cost of glasses £485.00 I said will think about that to which she replied shall i say you will come back and see me in two weeks time? Frankly felt it was very pushy. No way would i ever pay that for glasses it is totally over the top for what after all is just a bit of moulded plastic. My son has just got new glasses from a chain of shops varifocals and the cost £80.00 complete. Before anyone goes on about quality think all must pass the optical council standards or would not be in business. Perhaps the name Frinton puts the price up. But i will not be taken for a fool..
