Ealing House Residential Care Home

My relative stayed at Ealing House for 3 months respite care last year, following a severe health episode and a lengthy hospital stay. The care provided was excellent and enabled him to recover his independence at his own speed, and return home when ready. He was at home for almost a year before his health again declined, and after another stay in hospital it was deemed that he should reside in a care home permanently. At the time of his hospital discharge EH did not have a room available and he went elsewhere for a few weeks, to another 'reputable' home which I shall not mention. However the difference between the two is massive; at EH he is cared for in the truest sense and it really is his home now. He feels safe and protected there, and we have the reassurance and relief of knowing he is being looked after properly. The staff and management are professional and caring, there is always something going on if he wants to participate, and once used to his routine they pre-empt his requirements; when we visit he tells us he rarely has to ring and ask for anything, it all just happens automatically. The house is warm and although there are 17 bedrooms it still manages to feel cosy, like a proper home and not a 'care home'. There is also a distinct lack of the usual care home smells, which is really nice; Unfortunately those few weeks he spent elsewhere taught us that not everywhere is like that! And its something that we notice every time we visit. He is more than satisfied with the amount and quality of food served, and the girls are very proactive with encouraging him to eat and finding the right things to stimulate his appetite. In all, we couldn't rate this home highly enough.
