Minstead Training Trust

Minstead& Training Trust& provides& a range of support& to people with a learning disability including:

• Minstead Lodge is a 15 bed residential service divided into three flats
• Day& Opportunities providing training in Life Skills, Work-based Skills and the Creative Arts in acres of land in the New Forest
• Supported living in the community including three 24/7 supported houses
• Respite Service

The aim of the all& services is to provide people with a positive opportunity to learn and develop the skills necessary to become more independent whilst receiving care and support in a safe learning environment.&

The Trust run an accelerated `Stepping Stones` programme to support adults making the transition to independent living through focused support in residential care leading to a move into independent, supported tenancies in the community.& The programme is focused around the specific needs of the individual and usually takes from six to 18 months.& Support is given to help the individual find appropriate accommodation when they are ready to move on.

Minstead& Lodge is set in several acres of land in the New Forest with a mini-farm, workshop, ceramics studio, art and craft studio, greenhouses& and kitchen gardens all of which are used to provide training in a range of skills. For those individuals who wish to, they can work towards nationally recognised qualifications.

The Trust works closely with its sister charity, Furzey Gardens Charitable Trust which is maintained by residents and students from Minstead Training Trust, providing an inspirational setting to learn horticultural skills.& Individuals also have the opportunity to learn catering and housekeeping as Minstead Lodge is a conference venue.

The highly skilled team at Minstead Lodge have experience of working with a range of learning disabilities including Downs, Autism, Aspergers, Fragile-X and Pradar-Willi syndromes and Epilepsy.
