My son lives in one of these apartments and I used to be a carer for another company, so I know what's what but these so called carer's don't give a toss or monkeys as long as they're getting paid, they're not bothered about people in general or ones who need extra care. The carer's have missed my sons medications quite frequently, as I know if they've been or not. Apparently these carer's aren't suppose to wake them up, it's against their rules. Also my sons getting the blame for the carer's getting bit by fleas which is a lie cos we've not been bitten once, as the cats get dealt with every month, and also they target him more than the others who have cats and dogs. Another thing, the carer's have lied saying they spoke to me this morning and they hadn't done, just came in and went straight out the front door without giving his meds. The carer's don't do anything to help at the most times, and with my son being epileptic, he's had 2 since living here, and I was around, if he was on his own, he wouldn't be here cos he goes blind, can't see anything at all, so the carer's suggest if he presses his life line, but that's ridiculous if he can't see it. They've got no empathy or do anything to help, these disabled, vulnerable young and adult persons, they all need to be respected and spoken with dignity, they don't care at all here in this place and yet, I was once going to work for them but they'd messed me about for 2 months waiting when I'd already got my DBS, that says it all, that they couldn't even be bothered to get in touch with me (lied again by saying that they had) it's so wrong and I'm glad in a way I hadn't done. Someone I know also worked there and didn't enjoy working for them either.

Cecil Gardens is a lovely building, but that's all it is: I just rent a flat. There are no support services here. None. Riverside do not supply support here. They are just our landlord. There are only two services supplied here. One is a button that one can press in emergencies, the same as a lifeline. There is no on one medical here, and no falls team, so all they can do is call an ambulance or the falls team, if they even will. 'Activities' are funded, meaning bingo, donkey visits, singers, etc. I have no idea who decided to fund that and not fund support workers instead, but they have no idea about the realities of life or of being disabled. The 'carers' only provide a service in an emergency, and some of them have been really mean to me, so I try and avoid them. You can hire any random care agency, as you can anywhere, if you can afford it and deal with it. The only difference here is the council will say that if they contribute to the cost, you have to hire Hales. Who I would very much not recommend. Also, you cannot access support workers from Floating Support if you live here. So you're screwed basically. Even if you hire Hales, as a random not-very-good care agency, they cannot supply support workers, most care agencies don't. This is not supported housing, it's 'independent living', which means you're on your own, and I'm only here because I had no choice and couldn't get a referral into supported housing. This place is expensive and pointless. It's just a bizarre social experiment, where they dump disabled people and see if we survive without any support.

We moved into cecil Gardens last July and it was the best thing ever. The apartment is very nice and modern and all staff and carers are a lovely bunch of people who are keen to help with our needs. It has different activities on daily and is a great way to get to make new friends. We would recommend this place to anyone.
