Aug 14 2016 Staffing levels very poor despite all the residents paying privately, care home manager very rarely seen out on the units, rooms are not cleaned adequately, meals despite being advertised as 5* are not of the same quality as in the restaurant, care staff give the best care they can despite the poor staff levels, these residents deserve better!

Nov 22 2016 The retirement village is set in peaceful surroundings and the grounds are well cared for. There is a good village pub within walking distance, as well as the on site cafe. The Village has a transport service which takes residents to Wantage regularly and sometimes goes further afield for shopping/trips. The village itself is well maintained and generally standards of cleanliness are very good. There are a number of onsite facilities such as the spa, hairdressers and beauty salon, and other support services will visit such as chiropodist, physiotherapy.There is an entertainment programme that residents can dip in and out of, as well as exercise classes and occasional fetes and open days. There are also events held in the local village hall occasionally. We have encountered a number of helpful and caring staff over the past few years, and they generally work hard to do their best for residents. Staff shortages do occasionally cause temporary issues, and the location of the place makes recruitment more of a challenge than in a city centre, but there is a core of longer term experienced employees. Not everything is perfect, it's true, but there are a lot more positives than negatives about Letcombe and whilst it doesn't come cheap, it is at the more luxury end of the options available to those who need extra help and facilities which are easily accessible in retirement.
