Dec 14 2016 I have used Hagley Home Instead ever since Mum went into step down care from Russells Hall Hospital, since Christmas 2014. The care home environment (not the staff) at the step down care was awful, and I wanted Mum out of there as soon as possible. The Christmas and New Year holidays made making care arrangements really difficult, however, Home Instead were brilliant, and the Home Instead manager took time out to call and visit Mum and myself in the home. Within 2 weeks they moved heaven and earth to set up a rota to enable Mum to come home (& Yes - I do appreciate it's a business & it's profit based, but I felt they really cared about their services) Since then the carers have been friendly, professional and really cheerful. The same few carers see my Mum on a regular basis. They are reliable, and have a lovely relationship with Mum. I live a long distance away from my Mum and it is a huge relief to know she is taken care of. If there are any concerns, Home Instead ring me. There have been a few moments where Mum has fallen, or been taken ill, and knowing they can arrange someone to be there when the clinicians or ambulance have turned up is hugely reassuring. The carers have also been great with appointments, helping out by dropping Mum off, or staying extra time to ensure she is safe, often at short notice. The down side is that all appointments are 50 minutes, and if you need less time i.e. for reminders for tablets etc only but no care provision, it can be expensive. This organisation is the Rolls Royce of care giving organisations. That said, I would say, beware of the small print with other care providers, with additional add on costs other than the advertised pay per hour figure. Would I recommend Home Instead - Absolutely. You are with a safe pair of hands, and peace of mind is priceless.
