A Chance for Life provides personal support to adults and children who have suffered a brain injury or other disabling conditions. Support is provided in peoples own homes. Interventions include social, physical, educational recreational or mental health support. The service is made up of case management teams which include qualified nurses, occupational therapists and support workers. Services are usually commissioned by personal injury solicitors who have control of peoples care. The provider was associated to the British Association of Brain Injury Case Management (BABICM). BABICM is a professional association established to promote the development of case management in the field of acquired brain injury. BABICM is responsible for the development of an ethical and professional structure which encourages high standards of training and communication in case management. To maintain accreditation to this organisation the provider has to demonstrate that they meet the codes of practice and competencies required by the organisation. There are published guidelines and protocol documents which set out the elements of best practice.
