First to say, whenever I’ve phoned, the person answering has been lovely, cheerful, friendly & helpful. Positive when you’ve been holding a long time. As for prescription requests, this surgery isn’t fit for purpose. For the last two months, I’ve posted my repeat prescription request in the box, understanding I need to wait for 5 working days for my meds to be issued. I requested to collect at their dispensary and was told I’d be informed when my prescription was ready to collect. I heard nothing, so after a week, called them and was told they couldn’t find my request & would call me back. I was told my request had been found ‘in a pile of papers’ and would be sent to Boots the following day (Friday) Collected from Boots on Saturday. This month, I posted my request in the repeat prescription box on 5th. I’d heard nothing by 11th so phoned for an update. After 14 minute wait, I was told dispensary had just taken another call ‘ would call me back. No return call so I walked over. Dispensary told me my prescription request was sent to Boots on 3rd. I queried as I hadn’t requested it till the 5th. Was told it’s on repeat so was very impressed. Went to Boots, no prescription. They had to call doctors & were told I’d been ‘mis-informed’, my request was still there waiting to be signed but would be sent to Boots by 6pm that day. Went to Boots following day, no prescription either electronically or on paper. Boots kindly issued me with an emergency supply of essential medication. If something as simple as a repeat prescription can’t be professionally managed and issued in a timely manner, it hardly inspires confidence in other aspects of this practice. | ||||||

Having tried to register at this practice a few months ago and being told that we lived out of the area, I registered with another practice. However, I had previously spoken with a third practice and they said that they would contact NHS England to find out which practice we should be registered with. NHS England informed me that Heacham group practice would be the one we should register with. Accordingly I went into the practice and said that NHS England had told us that this was the practice we should be registered with, I was very politely given the forms to register. Later that day I returned with the forms to be told by the different person on reception that we could not register, that we were out of area and to go elsewhere. I said NHS England had told us that we should be with Heacham. She responded by curtly saying NHS England are wrong (!) I believe that NHS England should know what they are doing and as we are nearer to Heacham they will be required to attend should we need a home visit. | ||||||

I understand that if an appointment is needed for same day you must ring at (and not before 8.30am). I rang today 5/11/18 at exactly 8.30am and was told no appts. available at Heacham practice, but could book a telephone call to speak to a doctor.
Could you please explain how there are no appts. when you have to ring on same day.
Is there another system that I don't know about.
