I used to be with another local practitioner which is now merged with Cromwell, it used to be simple, call, book appointment, get seen, done. After days of trying I finally got through to Cromwell who say I need to download an app and upload photo I.d to make an appointment, neither of which are viable options for me. Other option is turn up at 8am and hope they might have something that day, really conv6when your working. I thought we were always encouraged to see the gp, especially if we are worried about cancer, instead it's more complicated than ever and excludes certain people for no valid reason. I can't say what the Drs are like as I've not been able to see one yet.....

Sent letter asking me to make appointment with my Dr for medication review. This appears to be impossible . Very poor communications with patients eg informing them booking system not available for a few weeks, now back on but still unable to make appointment. Please how do I do this.

Dear patient, Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry that you have found it difficult to make the appointment for the review with your GP and appreciate the frustration that this will have caused you. If you feel that speaking to the Practice Manager directly would be helpful please call me. Over the last month the practice has been working towards a change of the computer system which is used for all aspects of patient record keeping including the appointment booking records. As the information in the appointment book could not be transferred electronically from one system to the other it was necessary to restrict the booking of future appointments in the lead up to the switch over – which took place on Wednesday of this week. This was because any appointments that had been booked in the days beyond the switch over had to be re-entered manually into the new system. We are now in a position to work with the ‘normal’ appointment book in the new system which will mean that you (and other patients needing appointments in the coming weeks) should be able to book the review appointment you require. In preparation for this planned change we had provided handouts at reception, notices and information on the practice website which we had hoped would inform patients appropriately. Having spoken to other patients we are aware that in spite of this publicity the message had not been delivered effectively – and for that we are sorry. We are conscious that it has presented difficulties to patients who had been unaware of the changes that were being made and that this had a negative effect on service provision – something that we would always strive to avoid. Your final sentence asks how to make the appointment : For any patient seeking to make a routine appointment for a planned review we would suggest that if you are registered for online services you check what is available online. If there is nothing convenient online please telephone us on 01480 462754 – and our reception team will do their very best to assist you in making a suitable appointment. We also offer some ‘same day’ routine appointments that are released for booking at 8am each morning which can be booked for a planned review. For any patient having concerns regarding the services we provide please contact the Practice Manager, Marilyn Long, either by email at Cromwell.place@nhs.net , by telephone on 01480 462206 or by calling in at the practice.
