Some of this surgery’s doctors on multiple occasions manage to disappoint me in the level of “empathy” that they show to their patients.
Three of the doctors I have seen in my year and a half of being a patient here, have been very unsympathetic during appointments and it’s felt like a rush to get you out of the door at the end of the day.
My most recent experience was with one doctor, who made it very clear in the appointment (during an ongoing and very sensitive subject) that he was in a rush to get me out of the door and made me feel like he did not care about the ways in which I’m suffering and seeking treatment (despite giving me bad news at the time as well..). After persisting with him to give me advice on my symptoms and options, he went on to say, that he did agree that I needed a referral and told me I would get an appointment (not a letter, but an appointment..) within 2 weeks due to the things we discussed.. I then find out a week and a half later whilst chasing up the letter that I still hadn’t received, that he only submitted the notes to his secretary for this, the day before my phone call! (10 days later)
The secretary then informed me that my referral date would not come through for months, as the doctor did not write any of our discussion in my appointment into my notes! Not one thing about my symptoms or that there were any concerns, (completely contradicting all he had said to me previously).
This is completely unacceptable and I have started to lose faith in the doctors there, this is not my first issue with them.. I am left to suffer yet again and told to wait months for any kind of help, even though the doctor has told me that I need further investigation quickly.. I have been reduced to tears yet again with this and feel that my voice is not being heard.
I am 27 years old and just want help in solving my health issues that are gradually getting worse.. I have been battling with this all year and am still no better off for it!
I feel as though it’s a constant battle to receive the level of care any patient deserves.
A little empathy towards people goes a long way, so does listening to your patients. | ||||||

Having recently had the need to visit the Northfield Medical Centre in Blaby, I have found all the staff to be very professional and personal in the service that they have provided. It is always possible to obtain an appointment on the day you need to and the Doctors take time to listen to your comments and then discuss with you the course of treatment. There is always the offer to return if the symptoms continue. All in all they provide an excellent service foe which I am most grateful. | ||||||
