I attended the walk in surgery at 8.00 am having been ill for a week with what I thought was a 'bug' going round. The female doctor diagnosed within 5 minutes that my condition was serious and arranged for an ambulance to Scarborough Hospital. Nothing but praise here.
2 years later - after 3 months of severe muscular pain, swelling and extreme tiredness as an OAP booked an appointment(2 week wait). Male doctor barely looked at me, spent the whole appointment tapping into his computer (couldn't say whether it was on my account or his previous patient's notes as we had so little engagement). I felt disconcerted and uncomfortable to be there, but he did tell me to arrange for blood samples with the nurse - 2 week wait. Nurse very pleasant. 2nd visit with male doctor - he said I was slightly anaemic - end of. I tried to communicate with him but he was arrogant, dismissive, rude and offensive in his manner. As the daughter of a doctor/surgeon I was truly shocked at the scornful laugh he gave me as I got up to leave. 6 months later and I am still taking ibruprofen every four - six hours to enable me to function relatively normally. If this doctor does not want to treat the elderly then he should tell his practice manager not to involve him in elder patient care. | ||||||

Never a lover of contacting a doctors' surgery usually because it takes forever to get them to answer the phone and then a further lifetime for an appointment but have to say, Whitby Group Practice bucks the trend. I know that they are very busy but the receptionists are superb, incredibly helpful, professional and accommodating. Doctors are kind, understanding and take the time to speak and share their professional assessment. Have also had dealings with the dispensary and they have been brilliant, yes time is limited, but in my experience, they have bent over backwards to help. All in all, a fine practice! | ||||||

The dispensary staff are rude and frequently make administrative errors which could put peoples health at risk. When this is pointed out they become defensive and sarcastic and blame the patient. On this occasion they accused me of requesting my prescriptions to be forwarded to Leicester instead of Boots in Whitby! | ||||||
