I have contacted this surgery several times over the last few months re the care of my 94 year old blind mother. What the doctors are like I do not know apart from Dr Li who did visit my mother and was kind and pleasant. Unfortunately there is one receptionist who is very keen to prevent access to GPs, is happy to tell you that the surgery can't help you, and this is without any warmth or kindness in her voice. She should realise that people ring GPs when they are anxious and should not be spoken to as if they were a nuisance. I appreciate that access to GPs is impossible during this pandemic but advice could be given, and it is not up to the receptionist to make decisions. |

I have been registered with Village Medical Centre for over 17 years now and my experience is summarised in the title of my review. The example I'm going to describe here is just a confirmation not only of the professional attitude of the staff, but the humane component and patient centric drive as well. During late afternoon on the 2nd of July this year I attended the surgery with devastating lower back pain which did not improve even after an hour of physio treatment. The staff decided to call 999 instead of letting me go home (which was impossible anyway). The call was made@16.15. Unfortunately the ambulance did not arrive until 4 hours later, at 20.20 (this is a different matter O don't wish to comment on this occasion). The surgery should have closed at 18.30 that day. Despite that there members of the staff stayed with mr looking after me takin care of my rather special needs at the time and comforting me with a genuine smile and properly timed words. This is I highly praise, very much appreciate and will never forget! Well done and a big thank you to the staff of the Village Medical Centre GP surgery! This attitude and dedication is s needed in the NHS. This positive and uplifting experience of mine should be THE example for many others working on the same position with very different attitude! |
