I've been so upset this morning.
The health visitor told me for me and my babys postnatel check up and 8 week vaccinations I would be contacted for her appointment. If by 8 weeks I havnt heard anything then I should call my GP.
So she is 8 weeks today.
I ring the GP about 10.20 to ask them when I will receive information of the appointment. The receptionist told me its been booked and its at 10:30!!! I hadn't received any information or confirmation of the appointment at all.
She told me they were running late how soon could I get there. The walk is 10/15 minutes plus we both need to get ready, she said thats fine get there as soon as I can.
So I frantically grab clothes, pack the baby bag, throw the pushchair up, start running to the gp. I managed this all in under 20 mins with an infant. So 10:40 out of breath and sweating, I rang up to still confirm I was on my way .
I was told too late I missed my appointment, even though they knew I was on my way and told me to come in! So I'm in the street sweating and rushed and all the commotion caused me to have a panic attack.
I told the receptionist what was happening..she said I'd just have to wait for another appointment, no acknowledgment of the fact it was their fault.
I was hyperventerlating and telling her I was panicking, I said I was told to make my way there is there nothing they can do? No help whatsoever. (They should have training how to deal with panic attacks & anxiety, they are front of house the first person someone speaks to when contacting the surgery)
The surgerys website has nowhere to put in a complaint and the practice manager wasnt in today either.
I contacted my health visitor who suggested I try to book in her vaccinations at least as its not ideal they are late. So I ring the surgery back and they tell me there are no appointments all week and I will need to keep ringing back frequently each hour all week for a cancellation. I asked if I could be contacted as soon as there was a slot as its not my fault all this has happened and I'd appreciate some support, I was even willing to come in and wait all day at the surgery. I was told this wasnt possible, so now I have to spend my week every hour contacting the surgery to ensure my baby is immunised. Very dissapointed. |
