_Written by Healthwatch Cornwall on behalf of the story provider:_
Patient had stent fitted a month ago (couldn't unblock arteries). Prior to the stent patient had angina, but now worse. The hospital is trying to control the angina and the patient is expecting tablet treatment (tablet coming from Ireland).
Last week, the patient experienced chest pains and visited their GP. The GP gave the patient a letter of referral and the patient initially attended the Medical Admissions Unit and then Roskear ward. The patient said that care on the ward was fantastic with very helpful doctors and nurses and very good communication. When the patient left the hospital the last time they were told to carry on as usual. When receives their tablet today, information will be given to the as to how it is to be taken. Has been told that the hospital will monitor the tablet treatment 24 hours before discharge. The tablet cannot be prescribed by a GP, only by the hospital consultant.
The patient's family has visited the ward but haven't been around when the doctors were present. The patient is happy with the visiting. The patient said that the ward was peaceful and that they saw that people were attended to when they sought help. The patient has also had medication when needed it. Overall brilliant care that couldn't be faulted. The hospital meals are also great. Patient also said he could not fault his GP practice at Carnon Downs.

This surgery has saved the life of my partner and taken extremely good care of both of us. Staff are always courteous and the medical staff exemplary. I think we are very lucky! |

New to the area, but couldn't be happier with the staff at the surgery. From the moment I got into the surgery everyone was really friendly and helpful. The GP I saw was wonderful, really happy to listen to me. Helpful and couldn't have been better. Thank you very much to all. |
