I am often referred to the Rivermead branch which is the other side of town and not accessible due to traffic/one-way system or multiple buses. Booking on the day is not suitable if, like me, you start work at 7 a.m. in another town. My employer requires me to book medical leave at least a day in advance. So I have to book 1 month in advance to get an appointment or I will run out of routine medication. Sorry, but this system really needs an overhaul because patients close to the Wood Street Surgery are simply not getting a service any more. Everything is geared to the more lucrative student catchment at Rivermead, On the plus side, Rivermead reception is open when Wood Street's isn't, and they can book appointments for either branch. All too often the Wood Street surgery answering machine seems to be switched on even when the surgery is supposedly open. | ||||||

I moved to Wood Street recently, and have been in the surgery to register. I am a young professional that considers myself to treat everyone with kindness. I simply wanted information on how to registered at the surgery and I have honestly never been spoken to in the way I was by their reception staff. The lady on reception wanted a battle with me and was callously unwelcoming an rude. I was baffled and it made me feel sick to my stomach that she may be speaking to vulnerable adults in that way too. I recently phoned the surgery to ask for information on the location of the hospital where they requested I get blood tests. A simple request. Again I was spoken to in a manner so sharp, unprofessional and unhelpful and was told to "hurry up" and to "get off the phone after conversing for 35 seconds. I have paid tax for the last 20 years and it's absolutely disgusting that someone can make you feel this way from a 30 second phone call. I would avoid this surgery at all costs simply down to their reception. | ||||||

l have been with this surgery for the past 40 years and never have l know it in such disarray, try and book an appointment on line, no chance, ring at 08:00 and it’s like the Carlsberg advert, you don’t get through, if and it’s a big if you do get through your asked to hold, last time l was on hold 25 minutes and then hung up on ??. Ring Rivermead and it’s the same story. Shame on whoever has caused this problem, oh yes that will our wonderful government, some ones who can’t sort any nhs problem out. Just how do you get the services you’re entitled to, after all l have contributed for the past 50 years. | ||||||
