Having moved to Cornwall I had to change dentists.
I have an engineering background and work to the theory that if it isn't broken don't try to fix it.
I tried one of the dental practices in Liskeard and felt that all they wanted to do was to charge me as much as possible for treatment, brushes and 'special' toothpaste that I was not sure that I even needed. I started to wonder whether my previous dentist had wrongly advised me that my teeth were okay but I had faith in him after at least ten years of regular check ups and work when needed and no dental problems.
So I went to Maple Croft dentistry for a second opinion.
I knew I needed one filling looked at as part of the tooth had broken and that was attended to on my first visit.
The dentist then said yes my other fillings were worn, some are over 20 years old, but doing their job and still adequately protecting the teeth so there is no need to replace any or indeed ALL of them as I had previously been advised in Liskeard.
I also visited the practice hygienist who managed to clean my teeth without me jumping about as I had always suffered discomfort with the hygienist at my previous dental practice due to sensitive teeth and gums.
My faith in dentistry has been restored and I would thoroughly recommend this dental practice. |

I made an appointment with this practise. Due to very extreme circumstances i could not make two appointments. I was made to pay the full cost in advance and was told that it is standard practise for them to take the full amount. That is fine. I was told they would keep the full amount. This was absolutely NOT what they say on their website. Which clearly stated: We may make a charge for missed appointments. Maplecroft : If you have to cancel an appointment, please give us 24 hours notice so that we can offer the time to other patients waiting for treatment. We may make a charge for short notice cancellations and missed appointments. They 'may' clearly is not true. They clearly intend to keep the full amount. |
