My experience is virtually a carbon copy of Iain Gallagher's--a really painful molar that had given me 3 sleepless nights. Unable to suffer it any longer, I rang round all the local dental practices but, not being a regular client was turned away. Several recommended I call the WGH and I was relieved to be offered a slot the same evening. The lady dentist and her assistant did a first class job and, after a lot of tugging, my tooth was removed in several pieces without my feeling pain. The £23.80 charge was tremendous value. When the anesthetic wore off I experienced excruciating pain and the paracetamols I had with me didn't touch it. Another bad night and I began a course of strong 400mg Ibupruphen the next day. The intervention was 8 days ago (18 August) and I've had to stop the Ibuprufens in view of the possible side effects. As there's still pain from the tooth and fearing infection, I rang my doctor's surgery (Nutwood Medical Practice, Grange) asking if my doctor could prescribe me a short course of antibiotics. The lady I spoke to was unsympathetic, not to say cold, telling me to go back to WGH for my antibiotics. She didn't explain why and I thought 'what a far cry from the positive attitude of WGH'. I guess there are good things and less good things about our NHS.
