Too many mistakes made with my repeat prescriptions this month. One item they had not even ordered in yet despite the prescription being issued by the GP 5 days previously, we will have to go back next week, second item, insulin, they did not give us because they forgot to look in the fridge - pharmacist claimed it was our job to tell them to look there, so again we will have to go back. The third item they did not have in stock ‘because of a national shortage’. The same day I rang Boots in Shelford who did have the third item and kindly kept it for me while a got a new prescription from the GP. All in all we will have made 2 trips to Granta pharmacy, 2 calls to the Granta pharmacist , 1 call and 1 trip to Boots in Shelford just to get a months repeat medication - this is unacceptable. |

My daughter arrived at the Sawston Health Centre in a desperate state after spending two days at The Lister Hospital and being discharged 5 hours earlier. She needed to attend as a temporary patient needing follow-up guidance and treatment for facial and body injuries having been savaged by a dog, at midnight, in Stevenage. She had stitches to face and body and was still in considerable pain, with face, arm and body swollen and no notes for guidance. Also she was running low on the medication provided on discharge.
As her father, I have to say that when we arrived late in the afternoon at The Sawston Health Centre we looked a bedraggled pair weary and in desperate, desperate need of professional medical help.
Hearing of our plight and In the first instance, the receptionist immediately responded and called in the Pharmacist who advised them how best to proceed. I'm not sure in which order, but to register as a temp' patient and book my daughter in for an urgent appointment with the Duty Doctor, to sort prescriptions that the pharmacist's team could then dispense. The Pharmacist and their team took over and couldn't have been more helpful. Providing all that was required.
Within a few minutes we were directed to the duty doctor who was extremely sensitive to the situation. Patiently asking questions of my daughter, providing guidance and leading us step by step through a programme as to the usage and timing of taking the range of medicines prescribed.
Working as one as a team, my daughter and I would say that the Pharmacist, the Receptionist and the Doctor delivered beyond their calling in what could have been a nightmare experience. Marvellous. Many thanks one and all. |

When I wasn't able to find the details of my dosage on my medicines, I called three times without being able to get through. I then visited the pharmacy to ask the pharmacist. Rather than help me, I was told that I was accusing them of lying. They then said they wouldn't be able to print the information out or write it down and would instead read out sensitive personal information to me. It was only after reducing me to tears that they eventually wrote the important information down for me.
The staff are adversarial and have forgotten that they deal with people who are often distressed and vulnerable. This isn't the first time I have seen them distress a customer. |
