I went to Dover for 2 days and realised I had left my Pentasa Mesalazine tablets at home. I have Crohns Disease so missing vital tablets would really affect me. I went to Boots in Biggin Street, Dover. There was a Locum Pharmacist on duty, it was their first day. I explained my situation and was disgusted to have to virtually beg them for 16 tablets. I produced my counterfoil for my repeat prescription and gave as much detail as I could. There ensued approximately 45 minutes of standing and repeating everything I had told them. The queue behind me was growing ever longer. I have been on these tablets 4 x 500g twice a day for 16 years. All I required was enough to last 2 days. I then had to pay them £8.80 for 16 tablets, £0.55 per tablet. Disgusting. They first told me they cost £56! They normally come in boxes of 100. Even on prescription it would of been less for 100. Surely this can;t be right? |
