We'd like to apologise to the anonymous person concerned. We always do our best to keep our patients informed, and we are sorry for both the disappointment and any trouble caused.
Amidst the relentless pandemic workload and upheaval, the UK experienced a national flu vaccination shortage situation, and vaccine supplies were erratic. Without warning, deliveries either didn't turn up or we had a lot less than expected and naturally, we couldn't vaccinate everyone as planned. Consequently, we informed affected patients by telephone but it seems on this occasion we did not; either through a misdialed number, a missed message, or human error.
Unfortunately, as we didn't receive this complaint directly, we don't know the full details and can't investigate fully. But I can assure the complainant we are never complacent or indifferent about patient care or when our standards fall short. Over three months we vaccinated over a thousand people in very difficult circumstances, and we are very sorry to have let you down during this challenging time. Moreso, because getting this years flu vaccination is especially important as risks of fatality are four times more likely with a combined flu and COVID19 infection.
I hope you will give us another chance soon and that you managed to get vaccinated. Once again, please accept our sincere apologies.
Thank you and stay safe.
