Went to day for my normal Diabetic Reviews which was very efficient. But tried to book a eye test. Not allowed till November. Even when I started I need new glasses for driving. No chance till November was the reply. So if you need glasses don't go to these characters. They seem to think there's no alternative available. Definitely I will not return. One would think safety of others and would be their main concern. |

We visited the Specsavers in Wallasey, this morning, as we had an appointment for our son, who is autistic. This was his first visit for an eye test, as usually we would have gone to the hospital, so you can imagine how worried we were about this appointment. When our son has a change in his usual routine, it can sometimes end in a meltdown, which can last for a very long time, and can be very distressing for all the family. We were welcomed by a member of staff who was amazing, she very slowly, and carefully explained everything that would happen during our visit, and then talked though the pre examination with him. Once this was completed she then sat us away from the other customers, so that there wasn't too much noise for our son, which he finds difficult to deal with. We were then shown into the room for his examination, and again the opthologist (sorry we didn't get your name), was amazing, and spoke to our son slowly and gave him time to answer his questions. Next we needed to choose his new glasses, and were assisted by another member of staff, who again took her time to go through several pairs of glasses, until we found the right pair. Finally a lovely lady (again, we're sorry, but we didn't catch your name), made sure that the glasses, which he had chosen fitted correctly and arranged our next appointment. Thanks you all, so, so much for your excellent care and attention. I had contact from the shop yesterday to say that my wife’s new contacts were in and asked to book an appointment for first fitting and advice for use. My wife works so I couldn’t ask for any particular time without consulting her.
Having a list of suitable times, I rang the shop this morning . There is a telephone message saying that all staff were busy but wait for a response. That happened several times.
There was no response after trying for about 35 minutes.
I drove to the car park and paid for parking.
I was eventually seen by the shop manager.
When I complained about the lack of telephone response they said that the receptionist was on leave and added that staff have to have holiday leave and that there is a facility to leave a message. I said I’d tried that but again there is no response.
I always have used Specsavers and over the years, this lack of response has been consistent.
Even on visits to the shop staff often ignore you.
I didn’t respond by suggesting that perhaps as manager they should have arranged cover.
