agree with long comment made June 17th 2018, my experience was of an insulting short darkish brown haired female receptionist - very rude/sarcastic to my ageing mother. Even if under new management there is no place for such a person / receptionist in society today, regardless of how long she has been there. She was very rude, everything too much trouble, showing her priorities were clocking the foot traffic in/out of the tesco opposite, and wanting to get rid of my mother asap, my mother was clearly interrupting window gazing. The place would do better with a new customer caring receptionist that reflects the new owner(s) business ethos. It is wrong for the owner(s) to keep such a condescending person in a face2face position where they drive business away so they have more time to twiddle their thumbs. Mother found optician , sight testes etc & talking over updating of glasses options (seen over 3 visits) were all fine, problems only came when in the hands of receptionist. Knowle is a small village where service is expected as the bustle of a town is nowhere in sight, so the receptionist clearly has no intention of changing - very bad - in the worst form.

I have been using Bannisters happily for many years but things have changed. The new owners ceased their agree enter with the NHS to carry out Diabetic Retinopathy checks. Obviously customer care nof as important as it was under the previous owner. My first check under new regime turned out to be uncomfortable. Had a number of treatments over the years but first time I've felt pain at a opticians. Second encounter was simply uncomfortable. The optician was so close at times I fully expected our eyebrows would knit together. That and the presence of garlic on his breath was totally off putting. Time I feel to seek an alternative opticians. A shame as I prefer local providers to national companies.
