I shopped in store today at approximately 20.45 on 29th November at Tesco Chadderton featherstall road pharmacy. I was not greeted by the person who came to serve me. I asked for fluconazole for myself and my husband as we had been experiencing thrush. They said fluconazole was not used for thrush, to which I replied it was. They then said who is it for and I told them it was for me and my husband. They said they could not sell me the product for my husband as it needs to go through a GP. When I asked the pharmacist to question this they said that this is the rules and it is unlicensed and they were only prepared to sell me the 1% cream for him. Firstly 1% cream is not the first treatment for thrush it is 2%, secondly it does not say in the BNF that it is unlicensed for men with thrush, it says clearly and on the packaging that the 150mg is treatment for thrush, thirdly I was not asked if I had any medical conditions or if i was on medication, fourth my husband has always got The capsule for thrush and has never been told it was unlicensed for use. The pharmacist would not answer my questions fully and the person who worked there had a severe attitude problem, who needs some lessons in working with the general public. I cannot believe that as an NHS nurse that I was treated in this manner when all I wanted was treatment for thrush and help not a load of grief from 2 tesco employees. I felt like I was being treated like a little child. All I can say is disgusting service and knowledge. For all they know I could have diabetes or be on counteractive medication but they were too busy trying to sell me the wrong cream. They also scanned the item at £7 when it said £6 on the label. Great job tesco pharmacy!!!! Original Comment Report... |

My wife and I have been on repeat prescriptions for over 10 years, and this Tesco store operates the most successful and empathetic service that we have ever had. The staff are friendly, and go out of their way to ensure the continuity of our medicines. They always offer to 'advance' prescriptions when we order late, and have been very understanding since the introduction of EMIS. Our GP clinic has been continually evolving its business practices, and has a poor record of communicating these to its service users. Tesco have bridged that gap, ;-)
Using the in store pharmacy also offers a massive range of off-the-shelf non-prescription medicines with expert medical advice from the staff, and help finding it on the shelf. Original Comment Report... |
