For the 2nd time in less than 30 days Rowlands have failed to deliver approx. 10 medications to my frail, disabled 89 year old Mum who lives less than 0.2 miles from them.
On Boxing Day I was informed by her Carer that the Meds had run out - because of Rowlands we had to waste valuable NHS resources in calling 111, having an emergency Dr visit and write an emergency prescription for which we then had to curtail our Lake District Xmas break and drive down to Dunchurch to collect the prescription to be filled by Boots in Brownsover - all on Boxing Day lovely. When asking for an explanation from the management I was told they were not due to deliver until the following week - well I don't know how you work that out when meds are issued for 28 days and I had already called on Tuesday 25th November to say she had no meds and could they deliver immediately - now I'm no rocket scientist but even I know that 28 days from 25/11/14 is not week commencing 29/12/14 and that she would run out of meds if they didn't deliver before Xmas. The really annoying thing is I saw she was running low when I visited on 13/12/14 but I mistakenly thought they won't fail to deliver again with Xmas coming up and them promising me in November that it wouldn't happen again so I won't be a nag and remind them - what a huge mistake that was! Awful service! Just queued outside (Covid compliance, although there was nothing to say we should) to pick up a previously organised prescription. Went in and waited whilst the lady in front of me was seen to. However it was 22 minutes before I was even acknowledged! They couldn’t find her prescription by the look of it, OK that happens but AT LEAST APOLOGISE and explain to us what is happening. 3 people in the back but no-one bothered about front of shop. Bearing in mind it was below zero outside and there were now three elderly ladies queuing outside. Then my turn and he couldn’t find mine either, but resolved in a few minutes. Just give the staff some training and get them to exercise some basic manners! I’ve used the chemist for years but this was the second bad experience in as many visits (prescription wasn’t correct last time) and my wife has also had problems there. She now uses Sainsbury’s and regrettably I will be doing the same. | &l
