I have conjunctivitis. Have had it before so know the symptoms and cure. It’s an OTC eye drop so I went to get some. My symptoms are itching eyes with a sticky yellowish discharge that literally glues my eyes shut overnight. During the day my eyes itch and feel gritty, sometimes painful too. I went to my local Boots pharmacy who didn’t have any so I got some itchy eye drops from them for relief but it didn’t resolve the problem. So I presented at Boots Newmarket Rd and, despite providing the full details above I was refused sale because the pharmacist said my eyes weren’t red, so therefore not conjunctivitis. I looked up symptoms of conjunctivitis and redness of eye is not always a symptom, but the woman behind the counter thinks she’s a doctor. Now I must go to a doctor for a prescription. Putting strain on the NHS and meaning an extra day of suffering for me. I won’t ever use Boots again. My message to them - take a look at these terrible reviews and sack your pharmacist immediately.

Whilst one understands that the Pharmacy must close at lunchtime, this is not great for people in the workplace. I waited. I took an empty blister pack asking if a prescription was required for the medication. Your pharmacist said 'what is it' - well she had it in her hand. It requires a prescription. I then asked for advice about the purchase of a wound dressing for a cancer removal yesterday as the dressings had come off during the night. The reply was simply - 'they are on the shelves over there' . Well good luck to a business like this. Guess the branch is on its way out.

What on earth has happened ? Such awful service. Long queues reaching from counter to back of store. Only one person serving. Chaos. If you visited your dr and they said they would send your prescription to your pharmacy you could drive there and it would be ready . Now it could be the next day !!! If lucky. Absolutely zero points for this pharmacy. I’ve used Boots Newmarket Road for a few years and up til about 3mths ago all was ok. Now I’m changing my appointed chemist asap.
