I would highly recommend Thomas Carter's. I woke with a pain in my eye, after attending a doctors appointment that morning, they advised to go straight to an optician's. I contacted Thomas Carter's and they asked me to come down immediately. On arrival Staff were amazing and very reassuring. Claire looked at my eye and straight away noticed there was an issue with blurred vision, inflammation and pressure behind my eye. Claire discussed what this could be and sent me straight to the eye hospital, before I left she had written me a letter and emailed the hospital, Claire also explained what I could expect at the hospital and reassured me. After being at the Hospital that afternoon it was confirmed I had Iritis and put on steriod drops. Claire was correct with her diagnoses. Claire has contacted me on numerous occasions to check on me. I have had a check up again with Claire and my eye is on the mend now. I cant thank all the staff enough. |

Though Thomas Carter is registered on the NHS Primary Eyecare site, are duty bound to offer free glasses for children they simply force you to buy expensive glasses from them. They are managing this by showing you one or two pairs from the free range, for sure that would not fit your child and responding unrealistically to your query that when would they have more pairs to try. I personally find it very unreasonable, will take necessary steps to change my kids optician ASAP, certainly request others to be aware of their strategy. |

Despite great previous experience beforehand I feel badly let down this time. I had a routine eye examination on 7-12-21 all ok just needed a new prescription. The very next day while driving down to Devon I experienced a very sudden change in my right eye. Thought I was tired but it was still there the next day. I phoned Thomas Carter spoke to Joanne who offered an appointment which I couldn’t attend as I was in Devon she advised wait another 24 hours if no better call back. Still no better so I called back I was advised they couldn’t help me as I was too far away and to phone another optician. I phoned Specsavers what a difference Megan took me though triage, immediately advised this was an emergency situation and organised an emergency appointment at another optician’s. With Megan’ s help I had the diagnosis torn retina and the necessary laser treatment within 24 hours absolutely amazing. Thomas Carter and Specsavers are both registered on the NHS Primary Eyecare site. Specsavers acted accordingly Thomas Carter didn’t once even advise this could be serious. I can’t recommend them nor will I ever use them again |
