Hanging on the telephone attempting to make an appointment. Then when you do manage to speak to someone thwy are most unhelpful and not willing to liisten As a patient I feel like a number instead of a person. Where has the personal contact of a small town surgery gone ?

Unfortunately patients have to be vetted by the office staff before a decision is made as to whether you can see a doctor or not this means you have to give them full details of your problem as if they are qualified to make these decisions! I also phoned to ask recently for advice about a prescription I was informed that the duty doctor would telephone he did not phone.

This surgery is grossly under staffed. To make an appointment it’s minimum 15-20 minutes on the phone even if you are the first in the queue. If you are lucky you will reach somebody who can help you. I had somebody in training who couldn’t answer any of my questions ( I understand people need to be trained but this has happened multiple times). Recently I tried to drop a letter in from my insurance company that needed some information from my doctor. I was told to put it in the prescription box for the reports department not at reception as one might think. I was also told that the reports department was only open on a Tuesday and Thursday with about a 3 hour window. Scroll on to one month later and I received the report at a cost of £32 and exactly 25 words written by the doctor. I have been with this surgery for twelve years and it has progressively gone downhill. Don’t waste your precious time and health here.
