The Receptionist were very informative and helpful. My appointment was thorough, and informative and everything was explained. I did have to wait a while, but this is to be expected and understandable due to other patients needs.

One particular rude and unprofessional who thinks of themselves as a doctor. Every time I encounter there are rude remarks made and the next time it happens I will be making a formal complaint. Very unprofessional.

It is disappointing to see that this patient feels dissatisfied. In view of the wording I assume the patient is referring to one of our Nurse Practitioner team. I, or my Complaints Manager, Lorraine Youngs, would be happy to discuss any issues if the patient wishes to make contact. Andy Gray, Practice Business Manager.

I have been using Brundall surgery for the last three years, I also have two daughters who are currently registered at the practice. The system of getting an appointment is utterly terrible. Every single time you call you are faced with a five minute message before you can select the option you actually need to, to get to speak to someone, to make an appointment. You are then faced with usually a three week wait min to make an appointment and it's never ever with the same doctor. You are told that they have limited GPs and there are no GPs to hire! Really?? The reception staff are nice and friendly most of the time but sometimes the pressure they are under comes through on the phone. Making an on the day emergency appointment.. when you call at the time they open at 8.30, it's usually around 10-15 minutes of engagement tones and ringing back before you can speak to someone then you are given maybe one of two times in which you can be seen.. not flexible when you have school runs to do. Luckily I can be seen at Blofield surgery as I am within catchment for there so I will be moving across this week. When you can get seen the doctors and nurses are lovely and friendly and for the best part the reception staff are lovely too, but everyone is clearly under pressure at this practice but the way the practice is managed really needs addressing. Last year my daughter needed a vaccination that I had to argue my case with the practice manager to order some more of the vaccinations because she couldn't make her first appointment due to being ill and the practice then running out. The practice manager was really reluctant to order more, when this is a service I pay for through my contributions, and I should not have been made to feel in the position where I end up arguing my case with a practice manager of a surgery! Someone outside of this surgery needs to come in and sort this place out!!

It is disappointing that the patient did not contact me directly, particularly in view of the comments made concerning managing the practice. If you would like to telephone me I would be more than happy to discuss the issues raised. Regarding appointments we have moved, as have many surgeries and due to patient demand, to allocating the bulk of appointments for same day appointments. However, we do not turn people away even if they have to sit and wait. Unfortunately, at present we have a Nurse Practitioner currently off on long term sick leave which has reduced appointment availability. Some locums are used to provide additional appointment but these are not funded by the NHS. The phone waiting times are regularly monitored and these show that 15 minutes in the telephone queue would be very exceptional. 10 minutes is the usual maximum that patients have to wait in the phone queue with no calls waiting after 8.40am. Often the wait is under 5 minutes. Regarding finding a GP there is a national shortage of GPs that is affecting any practice looking for a replacement when a GP retires or leaves. This national shortage is not new and has regularly been covered in the news. The NHS is changing with patients needing to be directed to the most suitable practitioner which may not be a GP. That is why we have recruited Nurse Practitioners. I am unable to comment on the vaccination but it may have been a vaccination that the NHS required to be given in schools with practices only allowed to provide as a catch up service if the child missed the school vaccination date.
