Beverley Webb here, again. How come this practice has 'outstanding' status, when the reviews are surely the true reflection of the place. An update on my husband. I explained previously how they fobbed him off with suppositories for fictitious internal piles for the best part of last year. And without even seeing him! He was seeing blood in the loo. They said if they examined him it would only disturb the 'piles' and make them bleed more. Patients don't die with piles, real or fictitious. Eventually, he was sent for colonoscopy which revealed stage 4 colon cancer. Inoperable as it has spread too far, to the liver and nodes. Thought he'd had a stroke last month, but no, following hospital admission and MRI, the cancer is now in his lungs and brain. The second round of chemo didn't work which is how the cancer has been able to grow, unfettered. The colorectal surgeon explained to us in October last year that had we been referred before the cancer spread to the liver, he could have been cured with surgery. Don't be fobbed off by medical centres who like to diagnose over the phone instead of doing their job. INSIST on face to face and a proper examination.

I was registered with this surgery until recently. You can read a previous review I left on Google explaining why we left. Basically, they treated my husband's rectal bleeding as internal piles for the best part of a year. Without ever seeing him or examining him! Without even speaking to a doctor. It was colon cancer that is now too late to cure. By the time he was diagnosed following colonoscopy and scans it was stage 4 and in the liver and nodes. This review is about me and to warn others not to be fobbed of by the receptionists. I spoke to them to report unusual bowel habits and severe pains which had been going on more than 3 weeks. I explained I'd had a colonoscopy a few years previously when polyps were removed. I was worried more polyps had formed which can turn cancerous. The receptionist said I wouldn't be offered another colonoscopy until it was due. Another 2 yrs. I went away and the pain got worse. I visited the chemist over the road from them and asked for fibergel. We chatted about my history and they told me to get back to the doctor's surgery and don't take no for an answer. I did. I was sent a fit test (poo by post) which was positive for blood. I was sent for colonoscopy. More polyps were removed. Receptionists shouldn't behave in that manner. Too often they get 'God syndrome '.

Difficult is how I'd describe this surgery and 70% of the Staff. From booking appointments to ordering repeat prescriptions for children and adults under the care of specialists. My family of 5 are moving to the Doctors surgery Littlewick next door as have lots of people recently due to the difficulties they have had at West Hallam Medical Centre.
