I cannot rate the NHS app experience with the surgery highly enough. It is so convenient to use as a working parent, not waiting in a telephone queue ability to send request as soon as it arises when convenient to us. More people should use this for non urgent queries and hopefully will alleviate the pressure on a busy surgery. I have been able to book blood tests and X-rays without having to phone the surgery, excellent service well done Shortstown Surgery!!

This surgery is obviously short staffed and stretched - and it's hours are quite limited at times , and the building itself is not in the best condition. But the reception staff, nurse and two doctors I've seen have all been really friendly and helpful, and the treatment has been great - no rushed appointments, plenty of support and time to talk through your issues.

I registered myself and my son at this surgery after moving to the area. I can barely get an appropriate appointment for myself but I have ended up having to go through 111 to get an appointment for my little boy (not even 2 years old). The doctors I have seen about myself seem rushed and not very approachable about sensitive issues. The waiting room is tiny so if you need to speak to the receptionist then everyone can hear you. Can’t wait to change from the surgery!

Having visited the surgery you will appreciate that the premises are somewhat restricted. We are currently working with the local NHS to move to a new purpose built surgery in the main square at Shortstown. It is anticipated that this move will take place later this year. Unfortunately, until this happens we are constrained by the space available. This means that there is a restriction on the clinician appointments that are available and so, sometimes it is necessary for us to direct patients to 111 in order to get an appointment at the Bedford Urgent Treatment Centre if all our Urgent appointments have been used up on the day. The new practice will have a screen between the reception and waiting area which will give more privacy. Furthermore, there will be a room available if you need to discuss a matter privately.
