Absolutely terrible. Cannot get through to anyone and book an appointment. It's clearly understaffed. Nothing seems to change as you can see reviews going back a couple of years saying the same!

After visiting the GP for a health plastic surgery referral in June of this year I still am waiting to hear back on my funding application sent off over 3 months ago. Every time I ring to ask for an update (once per month so far) I’m told they don’t know and must still be waiting for approval despite the council who discusses funding meeting once per month? I am very very glad that the issue discussed only mildly affects my day to day life as any more discomfort than I already am in would be unbearable.

I am sorry to hear you are having difficulty booking a suitable appointment. Demand for appointments with all our clinical staff is extremely high and constant. We monitor the system regularly and try to provide our services where they are most needed. Our appointments system is set up to release available appointments at 8am each day and for one or two days in advance. If all appointments that have been released have been booked at the time you are able to speak to a Receptionist you will be offered a call back from our Nurse Practitioner who can triage your call and provide a response to meet your clinical need. We also offer appointments up to 7 days in advance in extended hours clinics; Monday evenings, up to 7.30pm, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 7am. These appointments are primarily for those who are unable to attend during normal clinic times. We kindly ask if your call is not for the purpose of booking an appointment that you ring us at a quieter time, after 8.30am, to allow us to manage the incoming calls for appointments as efficiently as possible. Our clinical team consists of 3 GPs (one male and two female) and 2 Advanced Nurse Practitioners (female) who, alongside our 3 Practice Nurses and 3 Health Care Assistants offer a range of services. When we close at 6.30pm our out of hours service, GP Care Wakefield, takes over up to 10pm each day and 9 – 3pm Weekends and Bank Holidays for any urgent matter. You just ring the surgery telephone number and you will be automatically redirected to this service during their operating hours. In addition to this your local pharmacist can often help and advise you how to manage many minor illnesses or they can direct you to the Practice if you need to be seen or you can ring 111.
