I've been with this GP practice for years, but all the old doctor's have well left now. I can honestly say it's gone horrendous, especially the reception staff. 1) Two occasions where I was told it was 'nothing to worry about' by the stand in locum, and on both occasions needing surgery. One was immediate emergency operation to save my life ( full bowel removal ) and the other non urgent to aid my breathing ( but surgery non the less). Just on this point alone I could type for hours. 2) Getting to see a GP now is VERY hard work and the receptionists are literally like aggressive night club bouncers pushing people away, with sharp tones and unprofessional attitudes. Best of luck seeing the GP. 3) Now on THREE occasions as I was turned away, I have had to pay for private medical assessment with a private consultant at a private hospital. At a cost to me of £200 for an initial session, then xrays, scans at additional costs ( all privately self referred ), but I feel I have had no choice as I can't get to see a GP, nor do I have confidence in them ( when I can see a GP ) - generally stemming from mis-diagnosis. 4) medication. When you ring for medication you are abruptly told 'it only takes 48 hours love'. Well, if this was the case then why did I just want TWO WEEKS for my medication. Hello !!!! wake up. Genuinely, I would be very nervous going here with any serious long term issue, where I was reliant on the Elms to keep me alive, fit and well. They wonder why people are rude and short-fused with them. I think a 'shake up and wake up' is really needed at the Elms Medical in Whitefield.

I am not one for complaining or writing reviews but feel on this occasion i have to. On friday 11th Aug i attended Elms at 14.15 for a 14.20 appt with the nurse i was booked in with the receptionist and told to take a seat. After 20 mins i received a tx to say i'd missed my appt and in future to inform them which i could'nt understand. I was told there was a hitch in the booking system to ignore this and wait no apology or sorry about this. I waited a further 40 minutes patients coming and going for their appts when i asked why i was waiting so long felt like i was mythering no apology or sorry about this. Did ask to see the manager but all she kept saying i can only apologise got the impression she did'nt understand how i felt and could'nt care less as with the receptionist. Been coming to Elms over 40 years known a lot of receptionists who have always been friendly and caring would never have been in a upsetting situation like this. Sorry to have to make this complaint hopefully changes will be made.
