My husband checked on Wednesday evening to see if he could have a blood test at the centre and they gave him times to attend, but when he got there and queued for 20 minutes he was told that they do not do blood test there anymore, a e.mail on the website or indeed a update would have been required surly ,as this was a fasting test he had to come home and now he has to go somewhere else next week ,a little information may help in the future or a sign on the door may not come amiss ,absolutely disgusting

Until July the phlebotomy service was run by Wirral Community Trust so I am unclear if this comment is directed at the surgery or at the phlebotomy service. I apologise that you were given inaccurate information and would be more than happy to talk this through as it would be helpful to understand more detail. Please contact the surgery and ask for Karen Livesey, Practice Business Manager.

After being told by an out of hours doctor that I need my ears syringed I contacted the Orchard receptionist who promptly told me that "we don't provide an ear syringing service anymore and I should go private but it will cost you". I am absolutely disgusted that you can't provide a basic service like ear syringing. What next are you going to stop doing?

Thank you for your feedback. The practice follows NICE guidelines which recommends using ear drops, olive oil or almond oil for 3–5 days as first-line management, with the aim of avoiding irrigation whenever possible. This usually has the desired effect for the majority of patients. Ear syringing is not a procedure that GP practices have to offer and given the increase in patients with complex health needs we felt it was important to prioritise our clinical time as best we can. Ear syringing was taking both a GP and HCA appointment for each patient and it was felt that this time could be better utilised. I recognise this is disappointing for patients who feel they need ear syringing but we have to consider the needs of the wider patient population. I hope this explanation as to why we have made this decision is helpful but i would be more than happy to speak with you directly. Karen Practice Business Manager

After 3 visits to 3 different gps over the space of a month, somebody actually listened to me yesterday and helped me after struggling for the last 4-6 wks. Reception staff could not of been more helpful they were great and the most recent doctor I seen was great but the practice manager is not interested in the patients welfare. After writing to her and asking her to phone me on 2 separate occasions she didn’t even have the decency to acknowledge my letter or desperation of my ailments. I think this is a very poor show.

All complaints are acknowledged within 10 working days, followed up with a full response of which I personally handle. I can only apologise that your complaint hasn't been dealt with in line with our policy. I would urge you to contact me so I can find out when you had written, possibly receive a copy of these letters and dates of any calls so I can look into why I hadn't received this information previously. I completely understand your disappointment and I would feel the same under these circumstances but I can assure you that this is not common practice and I am keen to look into this further.
