I recently moved house and as I had moved out of catchment area i had to move my GP Practice. I registered with Upton Village Surgery as it is close by to where I am now living. On transfer of my records there was a catalogue of issues with getting hold of the correct records and establishing my correct prescriptions. After several attempts at getting the correct information, Reception staff informed me I would have to negotiate with my old GP Practice myself as they were very busy and couldn't waste any further time. Once the information of my correct medication was sourced the prescription was changed to the non- proprietary brand. When I requested the correct prescription, on which I had been very stable, the receptionist told me that wouldn't be possible as the branded proprietary medication is too expensive. and the government have put restrictions on non-proprietary drugs. i was really upset as I not only had a stressful time getting all my records sorted but also the medication on which i had been very stable had been changed without consultation. I felt my dignity had not been taken into consideration, and I do not think reception staff should be discussing government restrictions with patients. Needless to say I did not get a very good impression of my new Practice.
