I have recently come to the surgery with a family member as we required a piece of documentation. While our request was slightly unusual (requiring proof of full name on document) it could not be achieved - this however was not the problem. One receptionist in particular refused to speak to me because i was not the mother of the child and told me she didnt have to listen to me at all while i spoke. This receptionist was beyond defensive from the start and when asked if i could speak to someone above her as our request was urgent she refused to let this happen stating she worked there and there is no-one above her which is obviously not the case given the hierarchy systems usually in place within healthcare systems. I am beyond disappointed with this surgery as the actual doctors are beyond lovely and supportive but some of the receptionist staff are rude beyond belief - they are not all rude but specific ones seem to be making their own decisions and executing them in the most appauling manners, particularly when the patients/public are younger than them which i feel was the case. I will likely be leaving this surgery after this hideous interaction as i am very upset.

I am very sorry to learn that you came across a difficult situation where a staff member was unhelpful and behaved unprofessionally towards you or the person you were escorting. Like yourself, I am concerned to learn that such an incident took place. I have asked my staff for an explanation in writing so that we can deal with the issue that you have highlighted. I am sorry to learn that you will be changing your doctor. which is entirely a patient's choice, however I would be grateful if you make an appointment to come and discuss with us this event so that we can learn from your experience and try to avoid a recurrance; this will be beneficial not just to the Practice and its staff but also a great help for the other patients. Looking forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience Najam Bangash Practice Manager

Unable to get an appointment due to them not knowing the nurses availability for next week. Reception staff rude, communication is a two way thing, don’t tell me I’m not listening when your clearly not doing it yourself. Please ensure the phone is completely disconnected before you belittle me to your colleagues !! Think it’s high time CQC paid a visit as my list goes on. I would not recommend this surgery, it’s a shame as it could be so much better.

Thank you for your comments. I am sorry that you have had an unsatisfactory experience at the Practice. Please note that we have been trying to recruit a regular Practice Nurse for over a year, however there is a well publicised national shortage and we have so far been unsuccessful in recruiting one. In the meantime we have been using the services of a locum Practice Nurse. Unfortunately locums have a tendency to cancel sessions as and when it suits them, often at very short notice. Nonetheless, as we have recently merged with another local practice who have a greater amount of (regular) Practice Nurse cover, I am disappointed to hear that you were not offered an appointment with them (this would, however, have to be at a different site). I am also disappointed to hear that receptionists have not treated you in the manner that this Practice expects its staff to treat all patients and service users. Although we strive to ensure that our staff have regular training on customer relations and on treating all users with respect and dignity, it would seem that they are falling short of our and patients' reasonable expectations in this area. This is an area that we shall be reviewing and looking to take action on to improve across our organisation following our recent merger. If you would like to discuss any of these issues on your next visit to the Practice, please ask a member of staff on reception to speak with the Site Manager who should be able to assist you in raising your concerns.

You can call this surgery 100 times a day and still not get an answer, yet when you walk in, there is two girls sat behind the desk chatting. When you speak with the girls, they look down their nose at you. There is no clear direction of where rooms are located. Nurses are way professional, unable to follow clear instruction, and don’t wear gloves when taking bloods, what happened to infection control. Have had to keep requesting that the doctors follow up on my notes and referrals. Very disappointed with this surgery.

Thank you for your comments. I am sorry that you had a disappointing experience at our Practice. Please note we are currently undergoing a number of organisational changes which include forthcoming changes to our telephone system. We hope that this change will improve your experience of trying to get through on the phones. We are also in the process of updating our premises, and we will take on board your comments about clear signposting and directions. I shall be holding a discussion with our current (locum) practice nurse and infection control lead in relation to your concerns around infection control. If you would like to discuss any of these issues on your next visit to the Practice, please inform a member of staff on reception that you would like to speak with the Site Manager and they will endeavour to address your concerns.
