We apologise you have had difficulty in obtaining an appointment. January and February are often extremely busy periods for General Practice and the NHS as a whole. As a Practice we had already employed additional locum GP's where possible to mitigate the anticipated increased demand, however unfortunately in January we had reduced GP capacity due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control. We also had 36 GP appointments in January which were wasted as patients did not attend and did not cancel them, (in addition to the 96 Nurse/HCA appointments missed). We offer a variety of options for patients to obtain GP appointments which does include book on the day appointments and we recognise that these can be difficult to access due to demand. However we also offer appointments which can be pre booked in advance (up to 6 weeks in advance), pre bookable telephone consultations and offer a duty doctor service both morning and afternoon for urgent issues. In addition, we do offer a Minor Illness clinic with our prescribing nurse at Cressage on a Tuesday and Thursday. As a Practice we are committed to promoting and delivering a high standard of family health care and are sorry that on this occasion you did not feel this was achieved.
