Some of the GP's I've seen here have been good, but when I've gone back to see them, they are no longer there. I've found that any of the good GP's don't stay for very long. The other GP's can be arrogant. They don't seem interested in actually listening to you, especially when you have complex needs/illnesses. These GP's are time focused from the moment you step in to their room, and it feels as if all they want is for you to be out again as soon as possible. They seem unable to read your medical notes/history in order to treat you properly or to issue your repeat prescriptions properly (I've had issues since my named GP left, one of the good ones) Then there are the receptionists. I've found them to be extremely rude & arrogant most of the time, but especially when trying to get an appointment. They act like 'gate keepers', never booking face2face appointments that day, No matter how urgent you try to express to them it is. I have no issues with explaining what my symptoms are, as the GP needs to know that information anyway, But what I do have an issue with is the receptionist deciding whether or not I need to see the GP. She's not medically trained at all, so has no right to say if my symptoms are urgent or not. If I'm Calling at 8.30am for an urgent appointment,then it's urgent(I wouldn't call at that time if it wasn't). I don't want an appointment in 2wks time, because she feels my symptoms aren't urgent and can wait. They can't. Having to then basically beg for a same day phone call appointment instead as that was the only way of getting the medical treatment I needed. That receptionist didn't even bother writing down my symptoms properly, which meant the GP didn't have all the information needed when he called me.

The recorded message is monotonous, contains too much superfluous information and far too long. By the time you are actually connected you will have lost the will to live!

The reception staff are rude, extremely unhelpful and even antagonistic. I find the total lack of empathy astonishing in staff who must be dealing with some very vulnerable people. I have been with Cheddar Medical Centre for over 25 years but have finally decided to register with a different practice. The receptionists are off-putting to the extent that I find contacting the surgery in order to make an appointment highly stressful.
