I moved to Looe two years ago and I have never had a bad experience at this surgery. They have gone out of there way to help me on every occasion. I cannot fault the commitment and friendliness of all the staff and doctors I have met through myself and my son. They have helped my son and provided him with the care he needs through out. I cannot fault the doctors or the nurses or the reception team who do an amazing job.

The appointment system at the Old Bridge Surgery Group is appalling! They only offer appointments for the current day that have to be booked by calling when the phone lines open at 0830, the lines are instantly engaged when they open and the appointments disappear quickly, the other alternative is to queue outside the surgery waiting for it to open. People are not always so sick that they are off work and the system operated by the surgery effectively penalises people who work. The NHS choices website states this surgery offers online appointments and evening and weekend appointments, I have never been offered either. We need another practice in the area so patients can choose then Old Bridge would have to up their game and be more efficient and accommodating. I have not found the patient care any better than the efficiency of the practise.

We are sorry that you have had such a frustrating time trying to book an appointment recently. We know this is difficult for our patients and recognise that we are struggling to meet demand for appointments due to the current difficulties in recruiting staff. We wrote more about this and the steps we are taking to improve matters in our recent newsletter which you can see on our website here (https://www.oldbridgesurgery.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/sites/488/2018/05/Newsletter-Spring-18-GDPR-2.pdf) or ask for a copy at reception. For anyone unable to book an appointment but who believe they need to see a doctor that day we will always offer a call back from the duty doctor who will assess each case and act accordingly, based on medical need. NHS Choices does indeed state that we offer evening and weekend appointments and I acknowledge this is misleading. We offer a small number of evening telephone appointments with some of our doctors and also early morning appointments with a variety of staff between 7am and 8am for those who work and this is not reflected in the entry on the website. I have contacted NHS Choices to see how the information can be improved. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. We usually offer on-line booking of appointments, rather than on-line consultations (which are currently being trialled elsewhere in Cornwall), but with such limited availability of appointments at present this facility is temporarily unavailable. We know the current situation in the practice is not ideal and are working hard to improve our capacity. Meanwhile, we apologise to those for whom current arrangements are difficult.

I saw a doctor who was very helpful and thorough. He took the time to listen to me and sorted out my problem.
