I had waited a week before going to the GP. When I entered the consulting room, I just got a smile and silence from the GP who waited for me to speak. I did my best to offer a full explanation of my symptoms. I largely got smiles in response. He examined me. I explained that it appeared to be getting worse and I had never suffered this range of symptoms before. I was told that I would get over it, to keeping drinking fluids and to taking the paracetemol. I did not understand his conclusion that I had a virus. My stomach infection was highly likely to have come from the Spanish holiday and the visit to the water park. My chest/throat infection has arisen since, most probably as I am so worn down by the stomach infection, which is painful and on-going.
