Very disappointed in the new Alchester Group. Before the surgeries combined I was able to get a routine appointment at Victoria House Surgery within two weeks. Now it is 4/5 weeks. Today I was told I couldn't have a routine appointment until the 28th October but it wouldn't be with my doctor. If I wanted one with mine, it wouldn't be until November .... however I couldn't make one with my own doctor because the calender wasn't available yet! This is to review the readings of a heart monitor that I had fitted at the end of August before going on holiday. I understood an appointment would be made for me on my return - it wasn't & now I have to wait another 5 weeks! The proposed Super Surgery isn't going to resolve this problem.
With the Super Surgery in mind, has anyone considered the Super Car Park that will be required? Local surgeries have a lot of walkers to them but everyone will have to get the car out to the Super Surgery .... those that have them that is or can drive. Where is the bus service? Will this require catching several buses into & back out of Bicester? What will this do to the health of the elderly or sick, standing around in all weathers at bus stops? Currently it takes me 10 mins to walk to the surgery but how long will it take in the future, one hour, two, depending upon the bus timetable? | |||||||

Over the past 20 years, my wife and I have benefited from the Langford Medical Practice, now known as the Alchester Medical Group since it combined with other surgeries. The doctors genuinely care, to the extent they telephone to advise blood test results, and scan results, and also call to advise medication dosage needs to be adjusted. During a consultation, they take the time to examine every aspect of symptoms and condition, rather than whisking you out of the door with another prescription, and they are not backward in arranging appointments: For example - 1,12,17 visited a young doctor with a persistent cough, who persisted in finding the cause, and between 4th December, and 14th Feb, appointments were made for X-ray, CT scan, Lung function test, Blood count, Lung biopsy, PET scan, 2 consultations with surgeon, CT scan chest/abdo/pelvis, ECG x 2, colonoscopy, and finally part removal of lung. Follow up was equally impressive, and it must also be said that the pharmacy is equally attentive with repeat prescriptions, always willing to help out when we forget to order until we're very low. You often hear of people having problems with doctors, by in our experience, if you treat people as you wish to be treated, they are usually very helpful. | |||||||
