I have been with WHC for around 45 years and originally I was with Dr Leeper and Dr Bates took over and I have never had a problem with either, in fact, Dr Bates is such a lovely person and always goes far beyond what I would expect and attention to detail is amazing. A nurse called Tracy took my blood today (15-09-21) and it was effortless on her part and mine and to top it all a really lovely person. I have always found all the staff and especially the reception so friendly and helpful and I know some people moan about appointments not being available but compared to other surgeries they are second to none and considering what they have gone through in the past 18 months I think they perform perfectly and they embraced new technology and ordering repeat prescriptions and making appointments online etc is a doddle.

Can't fault the Doctors here - but often very difficult to get an appointment when you need it. However my main gripe is that the reception staff here over the last year or so have become rude and very, very unhelpful. But my opinions are largely based by my contact with one receptionist in particular - who is extremely obstructive and should not be employed in a customer facing role. If I call the surgery at Wendover and this particular person answers the phone - my heckles immediately rise and my heart sinks as I know full well that the call will be difficult and I will come away so to speak an unhappy client with either no outcome or just disappointment, whether I am trying to book a Doctor’s appointment or just simply asking for information that I am entitled to. For example if you ask this person a particular question she often doesn't reply or leaves you thinking she has put the phone down ( she hasn't but she doesn't tell you what she is doing) , what she should say is:-. "Yes, let me have a look for you" or "just one moment please whilst I check...." , other times that person just makes you feel you must have disturbed their coffee break! Such a shame as the Doctors and a good majority of the staff here are excellent. Please sort this out - a bit of customer service training perhaps???

I have been at this practice for many years and the medical staff are incredibly helpful and friendly and I've always received respectful treatment. However, the reception staff at Wendover Health Centre are another matter. Although some of the reception team are friendly and helpful, there are a couple of members who seem to make a point of being as rude, dismissive, obtrusive and as unhelpful as possible. I have on numerous occasions been given incorrect information by reception staff, I have been refused duty doctors appointments, I have been told that it is not possible to book an appointment with my named GP only to then find I can book an appointment with that GP online, reception staff have refused to pass messages on to medical staff and refused to help with medication queries. I would say that 90% of the time the reception staff are unable or unwilling to help with questions and have rude and abrasive attitudes. I have often felt quite upset after talking to the reception staff due to their attitudes and inappropriate behaviour. They seem to forget that their job is to help people access healthcare not make it more difficult and stressful than it often already is. If there was a closer surgery to me that I could get to I would change because of this.
